The 12 Days of Christmas | #1 Making Memories With Little Chickie

Harrison is only 7 weeks old - his first Christmas was always going to be a quieter one. He's giggling and laughing now, which is amazing, but he's not exactly at the stage where I am happy to be handing him off to every Tom, Dick and Harry dressed in a Santa suit for a picture. I wanted to be able to do things this Christmas that would make it memorable, he's growing so quickly and he won't be this little for long, so what better time to make memories than at Christmas. Little chunk is already pretty big, so it was about time we finally took his hand and foot prints before a little frame is too small for his not so newborn hands and feet...

We were lucky enough to come across Little Chickie, an online store who stock just the kits we were looking for. Little Chickie are a family run children and baby boutique based in Essex, selling all things unique, affordable and and high quality for little ones. Aside from the obviously cute clothes, they stock a lot of things that are perfect to give as gifts for new parents: ie, our Baby Hand and Foot Print Kit by BamBam. At only £15.99, it's a lovely gift that allows not only an experience, but a keepsake for life (and a good few laughs trying to get a newborn to keep there little legs still for long enough to take a mould).

The Kit comes in a beautiful little white and silver tin, which allows the moulds to be kept forever. It's a simple enough process to make them, you add water to the plaster and mix within the tin, and leave for 5 minutes to set, before placing a hand or foot gently into the plaster, which is easier said than done with a little one, let me tell you. I now understand why it is a lot easier to do these kits with newborns than it is with slightly older babies - Harrison made life very very difficult for us! The kits are small, so it is definitely a hand OR foot mould, fitting two in (or at least two of Harrisons') would prove very difficult, so if your looking to have a mould that fits both hands and feet, then I'd suggest getting a bigger kit. For us, we were happy with just the one, and I love how the moulds turned out. It's a keepsake we'll have for life, and I'm looking forward to taking new moulds every year to see the difference in size. A little Christmas tradition if you will.

I won't lie - it was less of a heart warming beautiful experience to remember, and more a case of trying to get his feet in and out of the moulds as quickly as possible... he didn't make it easy, and he certainly didn't enjoy it. But it was a nice activity to do that Harrison could actually be a part of, and it will be something we can keep for life. They weren't the greatest success, but they were fun, and that's all that matters.

Whilst picking up our moulds, I couldn't resist the Christmas baby clothes - you do only have babies first Christmas once after all. We picked up the Blade and Rose Christmas Baby leggings in the Robin print (£7.99) and the Reindeer Christmas Romper from Olive & Moss (£19.99). I was slightly disappointed at the small range of sizes for the Christmas bits and pieces - with a 2 month old, having to buy 0-6 months is a bit hit and miss, the leggings fit Harrison beautifully, but the Christmas Romper is definitely a little bit too roomy right now, so hopefully in the next few weeks we get a growth spurt so we can get the use out of it this year.

The quality is lovely in both items, but in the leggings especially, super soft and stretchy, and perfect for a growing little chunk like mine. If there's one thing I'll be purchasing more of, it's the Blade and Rose leggings - they have a good few more designs, and I don't think I've picked up a piece of baby Christmas clothing that I've loved more!

I can't thank Little Chickie enough for letting us pick a few bits from their online store - it's safe to say we enjoyed our night (even if little Chunk did not), and the moulds will stay with us for life. If your still looking for a range of affordable kids clothes for Christmas, then I'd definitely recommend you check them out (especially the leggings, I'm straight on for more!). I'll warn you now, the closer it gets to Christmas, the less chance there is of me ever putting Harrison in normal clothes... it's all elves from here on out.
